Charlotte is alive with the beauty of spring and summer! A beautiful feast for your eyes and ears fill every area of Charlotte with soft breezes, flowering trees, gardens and green lawns. Birds are chirping in the tall trees, children giggle in the many local parks, baseballs thwack! on bats at BB&T Ballpark, golf balls swoosh across Charlotte area golf course greens and the hum of cicadas is right around the corner.
The music of nature is free to all and so is the music of local bands at free concerts throughout the Charlotte area!
Stonecrest Summer Concert Series is every Friday and Saturday night. The Fountain Stage offers families a place for the children to play and the parents to sit at tables, benches or perch on the wide walls listening to the music. Set in a whimsical atmosphere where water is dancing in the fountains and the deliciousness of ice cream concoctions are calling out from Marble Slab Creamery. The Plaza Stage in Stonecrest is tucked in by Flying Biscuit Café and offers music on Saturday nights.7-10pm. Memorial Day weekend, May 22-23, Dukes and Smith, an energetic mix of Pop/Rock, Country, R&B and Beach Music will be playing.
Blakeney’s Summer Concert Series is a very popular Friday and Saturday summer excursion. The bands play in Village Green, a large expanse between Brixx and Bravo! Restaurants. People often bring their picnic supplies and spread out on the lawn, 7-10pm. May 22-23 Natty Boh, a family friendly, acoustic mandolin, vocals and guitar duo, will perform.
Promenade on Providence free outdoor concerts are offered on Fridays and Saturdays through September. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs and settle in 7-10pm. May 22 Nita B, a bluesy band, will perform and on May 23 enjoy the music of Borderlyne, a five-piece band that plays dancing oldies that will get you moving!
Enjoy free music in Charlotte’s Uptown at Romare Bearden Park. Lunchtime on Tuesdays and Fridays will have you enjoying local and regional talent from 12-1pm at the park. Music can also be enjoyed Wednesdays, 6-9pm! On May 20th enjoy The Party in the Park with the Carolina Soul Band. Once a month, May through October, The Bearden Music Series presents different music genres. The smooth jazz of Willie Bradley and Brian Lenair will be on May 23, 6-9pm.
Tin Roof at Uptown’s hopping EpiCentre has free music Sunday through Thursday. No cover charge on Friday and Saturdays, just make sure to arrive before 10pm. May 21-24 Brandon Stile (country), Stereotype (pop, rock, alternative), and Incredibly Tall People (rock/jam) will play.
Charlotte’s National White Water Center is the place to cool off with fun water activities in the summer! Whitewater River Jams is a free musical summer series through September, offered on Thursdays and Saturdays. 7-10pm.
