SOUTH CHARLOTTE CELEBRATES NEW YEAR’S EVE! December 29, 2013

South Charlotte is ringing in the New Year with food, fun and festivities!

Cosmos Café at 8490 Rea road, Village at Robinson Farm, Ballantyne is offering a fun Masquerade New Year’s! A four-course menu, midnight balloon drop and champagne toast will be included in the festivities.

Bradshaw Social House, also located in Ballantyne at the Village at Robinson Farm, will be offering New Year’s casualness with live music and a champagne toast.

The Ballantyne Hotel and Lodge is having a New Year’s Party starting at 9pm with a live DJ, dancing, party favors and champagne toast. The Gallery Restaurant will be offering a special New Years Day menu.

Villa Antonio in Ballantyne Village is hosting its annual New Year’s Eve party! Dinner seating starts at 4:30 with piano music beginning at 6:30 and DJ at 10:30.

SouthPark’s Upscale New Year’s Eve Party will be at City Tavern. Enjoy an appetizer buffet, outdoor fire pits, live DJ, private rooms and table service. Dinner reservations begin at 4pm and the party starts at 10pm.

Baku Japanese Restaurant and Lounge is having a NYE Soiree! The celebration will feature a special 12-taste chefs menu, music with DJ Ryan Crawford, a live saxophonist, dancing and more.

Dilworth Neighborhood Grille is having its 10^th Annual NYE Party 9pm to 1am! Admission includes drinks and two buffets. Music will be from DJ DNIncredible G and Master C. Party favors and champagne toast at midnight.

Nan and Byron’s New Year’s Eve  Dec. 31, 10 p.m. features an open bar and buffet, music from DJ Clay Hefner, party favors, a live countdown of the ball drop, and a champagne toast at midnight. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Levine Children’s Hospital’s Give Here For Kids Here program

Venturing out of fun South Charlotte (for just a little bit )to include a traditional Uptown experience is easy with the Lynx line! Charlotte Area Transit System officials said extra Lynx Blue Line trains will run through 1:30 a.m. Buses will run on their weekday schedule, with select routes leaving the Charlotte Transportation Center at 1:30 a.m. First Night Charlotte will be 10 p.m. to Midnight.

First Night is the Charlotte’s “official” celebration. It’s an alcohol-free, family-friendly, cultural celebration in Uptown Charlotte. Artists, dancers, comedians, musicians and magicians will take to the streets and venues to enjoy. If midnight is too late for the younger ones in your family, there’s a kid’s countdown earlier in the day. First Night Charlotte for Kids  is 1 to 6 p.m.

THE QUEEN CITY OFFERS HOLIDAY ENTERTAINMENT December 15, 2013

Christmas in Charlotte is a wonderful time for celebration! The Queen City celebrates the holidays all through December with a constant variety of food, fun and entertainment.

 

Christmas Eve is a time of reflection and a time for festivities! Families can enjoy partaking a Christmas meal without the hassle of clean up and hours of cooking at several restaurants in the Charlotte area.

An Italian Feast is a tradition for many families on Christmas Eve and there is no better place than Villa Antonio to sit back and enjoy some Italian delicacies. A Little Italy will be sure to be included in your holiday traditions for years to come! Buon Natale! Villa Antonio will be open Christmas Eve, with live entertainment, at an early 4:00 p.m.

Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse is a steak lover’s idea of a delicious Christmas  heaven! This upscale restaurant will be open Christmas Eve from 4-9p.m. and will offer a children’s menu for your chicken finger and French fry picky eaters on Christmas Eve.

McCormick and Schmick’s is open Christmas Eve for a sumptuous seafood supper in Charlotte! Offering a variety of fish entrees, steak and chicken, McCormick and Schmick’s  can be counted on as a go-to restaurant with great food and service.

The Ballantyne Hotel and Lodge offers a Winter Social Package that will include hors d’ oeuvres, three-course plated dinner and complimentary bartender service.  Gallery Restaurant will be open for dinner on Christmas Eve, 4pm – 9pm. The restaurant will feature its regular menu as well as offer a prime rib dinner special on Christmas.

 

Family activities and entertainment are easy in Charlotte through the holiday season. Bundle the family and guests into the car and find the many holiday cheer venues offered throughout the Charlotte area!

On December 19 Red Green & Bluegrass Holiday Benefit will be performing at Museum of the Waxhaws. Located at 8215 Waxhaw Hwy.,in the quaint town of  Waxhaw, North Carolina. Families will laughing and clapping to the beat of folk music and fiddlers! Charlotteans will be surprised to hear about the rich bluegrass musical history of their fine city!

Cheer on The Charlotte Checkers, Charlotte’s hockey team on December 21^st at Time Warner Cable Arena, 333 East Trade Street in Uptown. The Checkers will be playing against the Toronto Marlies. Tickets start at $15. The fun begins at 12:00 p.m.

Also on December 21st, sports enthusiasts can enjoy basketball at the Time Warner Cable Arena when the  Charlotte Bobcats take on the Utah Jazz. The game begins at 7:30 p.m. and on December 23^rd; the Bobcats will take on the Milwaukee Bucks at 7:00 p.m. at Time Warner Arena.

The Carolina Panthers will provide some holiday football entertainment on December 22, at 1:00 p.m. The Panthers will be playing the New Orleans Saints at Bank of America Stadium, 800 South Mint Street in Uptown. Go Cats!

 Theater enthusiasts can enjoy holiday stage productions over the holidays. The Children’s Theater of Charlotte through December 22 will perform Miracle on 34th Street. Performances will be at the McColl Family Theater in ImaginON, 300 E. 7^th Street.

A Commedia Christmas Carol will be performed at the Wells Fargo Playhouse at ImaginOn, through December 29^th.  This traditional story starring Ebenezer Scrooge will be sure to keep you in the Christmas spirit!

Christmas Town USA is the quiet little town of McAdenville. Every Christmas this sleepy town puts on a light display with more than 375 trees, with as many as 5,000 lights on just one tree! Homes and streets are all decorated with enthusiasm each year since 1956. Enjoy the Christmas light spectacle with more than 600,00 other people! Lights are on timers and automatically go off at 9:30 p.m. Monday-Thursdays and at 11:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Arriving in town by 5:30 p.m. and finding a parking space to enjoy the town while walking is strongly recommended.

Also decked out for the holidays is the Charlotte Motor Speedway! Speedway Christmas returns for a spectacular holiday light show through December 30^th. Three million lights in 800 displays will be shining the speedway along with  a Christmas village, Santa and movies played on the worlds largest HDTV! The light show is open daily from 6-10p.m.

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden will celebrate Christmas with a festive display of Christmas trees, Santa and nature-based crafts. Enjoy the display of 500,00 lights while strolling the beautiful gardens!

The North Carolina Transportation Museum will have a Santa Train with Santa riding the rails and passing out treats through December 22. Families can also take a 25-minute evening train ride to the Roadhouse where Santa and his elves will be waiting at Cookies With Santa, which runs through December 21^st.

Christmas dinner will be served at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association headquarters. Christmas at the Billy Graham Library runs through December 23^rd.

SOUTH CHARLOTTE SANTA SIGHTINGS! December 8, 2013

Santa has landed in the Queen City a tiny bit early as a special present to all grown-ups ready to capture their children’s Christmas memories forever on film!

Santa’s magic allows him to be in several places at the same time in South Charlotte, and each visit will provide just a little different atmosphere to please all hurried adults and eager children!

Carolina Place Mall offers photo opportunities for all your little ones, including your favorite 4-legged babies! Babies of the human kind can get their cuteness captured through December 24^th at Babies First Christmas located at the lower level in Dillard’s. Beloved pets can visit Santa at a special reserved time, on Mondays, 6:00p.m. through December 16^th at the Dillard’s Santa Photo Set. Pajamas are always a cute donning for Christmas pics! Wriggle into your favorite snuggly jammies; bring stuffed animals and books to capture a nighttime moment Tuesdays, 6:00 pm at Pajama Party with Santa at Dillard’s.

Southpark Mall, at 4400 Sharon rd., offers a beautiful holiday display with Santa as the guest of honor! Santa will be available daily in the Center Court through December 24^th.

Concord Mills is holding a Caring Santa event Sunday, December 8^th. This special event is an opportunity for families with special needs children to enjoy a quieter environment at the Simon Santa Photo experience. Contact the mall manger, Holly Roberson at hroberso@simon.com for details.

Santa through December 21st will visit Blakeney Shopping Center located in the Ballantyne area of Charlotte!  Free Photos with Santa at Old Navy will be available Sunday, December 15^th 11am-7pm. December 20-21^st, Santa and friends will be visiting and joining in carriage rides, kids crafts and hot cocoa with cookies!

The Stonecrest Shopping Center at Piper Glen will celebrate Santa’s visit with a brunch celebration! Join Santa and help the Second Harvest Food Bank on December 14^th, 10am-1pm. Santa’s elves will be helping with crafts and enjoying the balloon artist entertainment! Don’t forget your camera!

At the Arboretum Shopping Center located at 8008 Providence rd., families can enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides on Saturdays 5:30-8:30 pm. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be roaming and greeting around the shopping center on December 22^nd, 2-5pm.
